It is generally difficult to convey the basic principles of molecular biology as the subject matter, involving biomolecules (e.g., DNA and proteins), cannot be directly observed. In response to this a team of biologists, computer scientists, music technologists and CCE chemists have partnered together to turn their data studying molecular biology (and pre-biology) into works of art that simultaneously provide an in-depth look at the dynamics of macromolecules. Taking data from simulations of molecules, including those studied in the CCE, the team developed an interactive audio-video installation that helps participants see (and hear) better how molecules behave.
